Though the federal government reopened following a 35-day shutdown triggered by the border wall fight, Pelosi is standing firm in her opposition to Trump's demand for more than $5 billion for the project. I happen to think it's very bad politics because basically she wants open borders.

'We're going to have to see what happens on February 15th, ' the president said, adding: 'I don't take anything off the table'.

Trump, without citing the evidence, added that he was "already building the wall", but that he could do it a lot faster if Congress would either approve the funds or after the national emergency was declared.

"Well, I think that she was very rigid - which I would expect - but I think she is very bad for our country", the president said.

"She knows that you need a barrier", he said.

Previewing next Tuesday's speech before Congress, a senior administration official said Trump will "cast an inspiring vision of American greatness".

Gianfranco Zola is the 5/2 favourite to succeed him, followed by Frank Lampard - whose odds have fallen from 8/1 to 7/2 - and Diego Simeone (9/1).

"The President's wild and predictable misrepresentations about Democrats' commitment to border security do nothing to make our country safer", she said. "She doesn't mind human trafficking or she wouldn't do this because you know ..." Human trafficking. And we're going to have a strong border.

"She can keep playing her games, but we will win", Trump said. He said she was too "rigid" in their negotiations and "very bad" for the country.

Trump will also address foreign policy issues during his speech, including the United States trade war with China, the situation in Venezuela and the ending of U.S. involvement in conflicts overseas, the administration official said. The president - in open warfare with opposition Democrats, as well as railing nearly daily against prosecutors looking at allegations that he colluded with Russian Federation in his 2016 election - will take the high ground, the official said.

When Brennan asked if he was saying he intends to launch a military strike on Iran, which he says is developing a nuclear arsenal despite his intelligence chiefs telling a Senate panel the opposite last week, Trump shot back: "No, because I want to be able to watch Iran". I want that as president and I'd want that as a citizen. "It's perfectly situated for looking at all over different parts of the troubled Middle East rather than pulling up", the commander in chief said.

US intelligence chiefs last week told a congressional panel that Iran was abiding by a 2015 global pact to curtail its nuclear weapons program, an agreement Trump abrogated. Its tone will seek to be traditional for a State of the Union, the official said - bipartisan, optimistic and visionary.
