R&B singer Chris Brown is arrested in Paris on suspicion of rape

US singer Chris Brown and two other people are in custody in Paris after a woman filed a rape complaint, French officials said Tuesday Jan.22, 2019.

Brown and two other men - a friend and a bodyguard - were arrested on Monday on rape allegations but released by French investigators the next day without any charges.

Following his release, Chris wrote on Instagram, "I want to make it perfectly clear, this is false".

The alleged victim of Chris Brown said the singer sexually assaulted her in a dressing room for about a half an hour, describing it as "brutal and violent", it was reported. "FOR MY DAUGHTER AND MY FAMILY THIS IS SO DISPRESPECTFUL [sic] AND IS AGAINST MY CHARACTER AND MORALS!"

In 2009, Brown pleaded guilty to felony assault against his then-girlfriend Rihanna, but he's also had a spate of accusations and legal issues since.

Chris Brown was arrested in Paris on early Tuesday following allegations of rape.

The 29-year-old was arrested in Paris on Monday, say French police officials. She says once inside his suite, she went to the bathroom, Brown followed her and "catches me by the right arm".

However, a source close to Brown argues he was never alone with the woman, claiming the singer's girlfriend, Ammika Harris, was in the hotel room the entire time.

One police official told the Associated Press that the complaint was filed in the 17th arrondissement district of Paris.

Chris Brown has been in legal trouble repeatedly over the last decade.

In one high-profile incident in 2009, Brown attacked pop star Rihanna, his girlfriend at the time, in his auto, leaving her face bruised and swollen. His attorney, Mark Geragos, has yet to comment on the investigation.

Few details are known about the complaint against Brown and the other men, one of whom is a bodyguard for the singer. He completed probation in 2015.

It's the latest legal trouble for Brown, who was arrested at the end of a concert a year ago to face a felony battery charge involving a nightclub photographer.

More recently, Brown was charged last month in Los Angeles, California, with two misdemeanor counts stemming from his possession of a pet capuchin monkey without a permit.
