Eye-Popping LG 'OLED Falls' Display Gives Illusion of 'Infinity'

The screen can peek up just a little to display

During its CES 2019 press conference, LG announced an OLED TV that rolls up and hides inside a cabinet until it is needed.

LG's latest rollable TV features three different viewing modes.

2018 tech expo, LG had displayed a prototype of 65-inch OLED roll-up 4K TV.

The 65-inch OLED screen of the newly unveiled LG TV can roll into and unroll from a base stand which functions as a sound bar.

Trump holds firm on border wall, offers steel option as compromise
He is the former chief White House correspondent for the network. President Donald Trump says he plans to call the heads of U.S. It seems President Trump has listened.

There's also a mode LG calls "Line Mode" where the display will drop down so that only about one-fourth of the panel is showing to control on-screen music controls and home gadget apps. But even the most advanced models still turn into an ugly, dead surface when you're not using them.

LG said it will release the premium TV in the Korean market in the second half of 2019 and target other markets later, without elaborating on the details of the price and timing, Yonhap news agency reported.

The rollable OLED TV is a game-changer for a variety of reasons. The 2019 OLED and Nanocell LCD TVs also support the WISA speaker standard, letting users build their own wireless surround sound systems with an adapter. "The panel is of 65" dimensions - we now don't have any more information about the technical specifcations of the panel, other than it is seemingly powered by LG's newly announced second generation Alpha9 SoC. And no, screen savers that display museum paintings aren't the answer (those are arguably worse, like fake wood paneling). LG pitches this as ideal for action movies and sports, although it should also be ideal for gaming where the slightest bit of unintended blur can spoil the experience.
