The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who have a baby on the way, are to leave Kensington Palace, which they now share with Harry's elder brother's family, early next year.

Prince Harry and his pregnant wife Meghan Markle will move into a historic cottage on the royal family's Windsor Estate early next year, Kensington Palace said today.

As the statement notes, since their engagement a year ago, the couple have lived at Nottingham Cottage on the Kensington Palace grounds.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are moving out of their London home and relocating to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor to raise their first child just a stone's throw from where they were married, Kensington Palace disclosed today.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex held their private evening wedding reception at Frogmore House after their Windsor ceremony, and it is also where their gorgeous engagement photographs were taken.

The cottage and house were called Frogmore because of the many frogs that resided in the marshy area near the River Thames.

It later became the home of the Duchess of Kent, Queen Victoria's mother, who is laid to rest in a mausoleum in the grounds.

The news comes amid reports that the Fab Four were considering breaking up their joint "court" at Kensington Palace, so Harry and Meghan could enjoy more freedom to forge their own path.

The Royal Family's Windsor grounds are steeped in history.

According to reports, the cottage is now undergoing a large refurbishment to transform it from staff accommodation to a family home. Coincidentally, it is part of the estate where King Edward VIII and his wife Wallis Simpson are buried. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge typically spend Christmas with the Queen.

The couple "need more room" and hope the Frogmore Cottage renovation will be complete before they welcome their baby, the source claimed. They will keep their office at that London palace.

"There has been a bit of tension between the brothers", the source said.
