Kohli smashes Tendulkar's record in reaching 10 000 ODI runs

Virat Kohli has become the fastest man to 10,000 ODI runs after breaking the record of fellow Indian Sachin Tendulkar during a thrilling tied game against Windies in Visakhapatnam.

Not only this, but Kohli also took the least time to reach 10,000 ODI runs.

The previous record was held by Indian batting great Sachin Tendulkar.

Indian captain Virat Kohli spoke to the BCCI after completing 10,000 runs in his one-day worldwide career and said that he never imagined that he would reach this stage in his career one-day.

"Personally, I'm pretty proud of my innings and my milestone", Kohli said after the match. You still have to work hard for every run that you score at the worldwide level, because there are a lot of people who want this very badly.

Sri Lanka president Sirisena prorogues Parliament as constitutional crisis worsens
In April, Wickremesinghe successfully defeated a no trust motion in parliament engineered by Sirisena with backing from Rajapaksa. However, Wickremesinghe remained defiant and was quoted by local media as saying: "I am still the Prime Minister".

With his unbeatable performances, Kohli has won several accolades including the Arjuna award, ICC World Cricketer of the year and multiple BCCI worldwide Cricketer of the Year awards.

Performing for the country is "not a favour done to anyone", and may be that is the reason even after 10 years of global cricket, Indian captain Virat Kohli feels "no sense of entitlement". Not with Kohli. In 54 ODIs as skipper, he has scored 3356 runs at a monstrous average of 88 with 15 centuries.

The historic run against West Indies was part of his 37th ton in ODIs as he made an unbeaten 157 from 129 balls in India's total of 321-6 from 50 overs.

Stating that he is grateful Kohli also said that records do not matter much to him. He is probably the number one in all three formats. The hosts now lead the series 1-0 with the third match due to be played in Pune on October 27.

Besides Tendulkar and Kohli, Sourav Ganguly, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Rahul Dravid are the other Indian cricketers to cross 10000 runs in the format.
