Shanghai [China], Oct 14: World No. 3 Novak Djokovic on Sunday registered an emphatic an emphatic 6-3, 6-4 victory over Croatian Borna Coric on his way to win a record fourth Shanghai Masters title.

In the final, the Serb has been a classic confrontation with Roger Federer, but the Swiss in the finals unexpectedly lost to 21-year-old Borna coric to.

After the victory over the top seed, Coric enters into his first Masters 1000 final, which will also improve his ranking to the career high No. 15 next week.

Djokovic will be up to second in the world when the new rankings are released on Monday, but he is desperate to take injured Rafael Nadal's number one spot before the year is out.

There was no let-up, though, and a sublime volley had Djokovic cupping an ear to the crowd as Coric failed to break back, the contest finally settled as the 14-time grand slam victor served out the championship.

Djokovic's class outshone Coric eventually though, with the Serb going on to win his 26 straight set to win his fourth title of 2018. However, he has been on a winning streak since August and has earned trophies in four major tournaments including Wimbledon, the Cincinnati Masters, the US Open and now the Shanghai Masters, Xinhua reports.

Man United's Luke Shaw may miss England games with injury
Manager Jose Mourinho hence will hope his left-back's injury doesn't turn out to be anything more serious than is now feared. Shaw has been Jose Mourinho's regular left-back this season starting all but two of United's games in all competitions.

And following this latest win, Djokovic watched as Coric apologised to the crowd for not being able to speak their native language before stepping up to the microphone and reeling off ideal Chinese in his acceptance speech. I didn't enjoy it as much, to be honest", Coricsaid."But now when I look back on it, it's a very good lesson.

After winning the Shanghai title, Djokovic flagged the sneaky possibility of playing in Vienna or Basel next week. The last four months had been "fantastic" and "tremendous", he said. "Not many holes in the game in general, especially this week." he added.

During the week in China's commercial capital city, the expected Djokovic/Federer finals did not materialize after the top seeded players had been beaten in earlier rounds.

"I could not ask for a better scenario", Djokovic said of his late surge to the summit of men's tennis. "Obviously I work hard for it".

Full fight in final is not out - Djokovic in each set is made one break, and his serve and made only one break-point. "I was playing good, really, I was really happy how I played", he said.
