The Death Row Records co-founder entered the plea in Los Angeles Superior Court and has agreed to serve 28 years in prison.

According to a report in local Los Angeles new station KABC, prosecutors say Knight proceeded to follow the two men to a nearby burger restaurant, where he ran over them with his pickup truck.

Suge Knight agrees to 28-years in prison in death of friend. As part of the agreement the murder charges were dropped, leaving Knight to serve a sentence for voluntary manslaughter after admitting using a "deadly and unsafe weapon".

Knight will serve 22 years in prison on the voluntary manslaughter count, with an added six years for it being a third strike violation due to prior convictions.

The following year, a federal racketeering probe of Knight and his record label, stemming from allegations of murder, drug trafficking, money laundering and gun running, was closed with the company pleading guilty to misdemeanor tax charges. Knight reportedly fled the scene of the incident before authorities arrived.

The 53-year-old rap mogul got into a physical confrontation with Cle "Bone" Sloan, who was serving as a consultant on the N.W.A biopic Straight Outta Compton. Following what appears to be a brief discussion, a struggle then ensues. Terry Carter, 55, was killed and the other man was injured.

Knight turned himself in to authorities a day after the incident. He said he feared Carter and Sloan were going to shoot him and his only option was to flee.

Suge Knight's controversial history and reputation was considered during sentencing. Tupac Shakur was in the passenger seat of Knight's vehicle when he was killed in 1995.

In 1997, rival rapper Biggie Smalls was shot and Knight was sued for wrongful death. This media house does not correct any spelling or grammatical error within press releases and commentaries.
