SpaceX booked'world's first private passenger

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk is hours away from announcing who will be the first human to fly around the moon in his company's Big Falcon Rocket. Maezawa's deposit for the lunar jolly was a "non-trivial" amount of money, which will help fund the BFR.

'This is my lifelong dream'.

Maezawa, a 42-year-old from Japan, is a billionaire who founded Zozotown, an online retail shop. The billionaire made news past year when he spent $110 million on a 1982 painting by Jean-Michel Basquiat.

He said: "In 2023, as the host, I would like to invite six to eight artists from around the world to join me on this missions to the Moon".

The billionaire said he wondered what would've happened if famous artists, painters, creatives, and songwriters had experienced what he wanted to experience. "These masterpieces will continue to inspire all of us".

SpaceX's Falcon and Dragon rocket programs both already deliver payloads into Earth's orbit.

He wrote on his caption: 'My mission to go around the moon, as the first private passenger, will represent the imagination and curiosity of all people.

The BFR will be constructed at a SpaceX facility in Los Angeles and is being created to handle everything from missions to Earth orbit to long-term cargo and crew missions to Mars. Over the past two decades, the South African-born American entrepreneur has emerged as one of Silicon Valley's most recognized faces worldwide. The outpost would serve as a stepping-off point for the lunar surface, Mars and points beyond.

SpaceX will announce who that person is Monday night at 9PM EDT.

Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX, just made a number of major announcements in a press conference he organised at SpaceX HQ in Hawthorne. He stepped forward to do it. 'We are honored that he chose us'.

Forecasters also say trees could be damaged, while there may be some short term loss of power and mobile phone services. A spell of strong winds is expected, initially mainly in the far southwest of England and across west and south Wales.

"To be clear: This is risky", the billionaire explained. "This is not walk in the park here".

'When you are pushing the frontier, it is not a sure thing. There's some chance that something could go wrong.

About one year after that, in February of this year, SpaceX debuted the long-awaited Falcon Heavy, which became the world's most powerful operational launch vehicle. The company has said it wants to launch its Mars-bound cargo flight in 2022, followed by the first Mars flight with passengers in 2024.

This isn't the first time Musk has vowed to send tourists around the Moon.

"This would be a long loop around the moon", stated Mr. Musk in regard to the private citizen flight of BFR.

On Monday, Musk also revealed some major design changes to the BFR. The spacecraft is meant to buzz around the moon without landing.

SpaceX has been an undoubted success story in the private space race. A 90-minute flight costs $250,000. Blue Origin's price has not been revealed.

Besides running SpaceX and Tesla, Musk has also invested in the solar energy company SolarCity to turn his vision of a solar-powered future into a reality.

Musk's successes have recently been overshadowed by his behaviour and the struggles of his Tesla electric vehicle company to deliver.
