British Airways passengers may have had their personal and financial information compromised if they booked between August 21 and September 5

BA customer Daniel Willis, 34, who booked a flight on Monday with the airline, said he had not been contacted by the airline despite being affected by the data breach.

BA is the latest major United Kingdom company to report such an attack - seemingly the largest since the owner of Currys PC World, Dixons Carphone, admitted in early summer that nine million of its customers had been hit by a data breach. The airline said it would manage any claims on an individual basis.

The cybercriminals stole customer data British Airways website and mobile apps.

British Airways promised compensation on Friday to about 380,000 customers affected by a data breach this summer.

The airline says the breach has now been resolved and that the website is working normally.

"We take the protection of your personal information very seriously".

What to expect from Apple's September 12 event
It wouldn't be unreasonable to suggest a 512GB option might appear somewhere though, given Samsung introduced this on the Note 9 . That's the leaked branding name tipped for the rumoured 6.5-inch iPhone CS - the biggest screen display on any iPhone to date.

Police and authorities have already been notified as they are likely to have stolen information about the economic data of hundreds of thousands of travelers who have made an online booking in recent weeks. There were other methods, very sophisticated attempts by villains to acquire these elements. "We discovered that something had happened, and immediately we began to work", he said.

"We are deeply sorry for the disruption that this criminal activity has caused", the statement said.

Which? said it was "vital" BA moved quickly to ensure affected customers get clear information and what steps they need to take to protect themselves.

Some 75,000 passengers were left stranded after a glitch forced the airline to cancel almost 726 flights over three days.

She tweeted: "My bank... are experiencing extremely high call volumes due to this breach!"

Consumer advice website MoneySavingExpert says customers should monitor bank and credit card statements closely for signs of possible fraudulent activity.
