The billionaire's fitness to run his company was questioned when he was filmed apparently taking a drag from a joint during a two-hour long interview with comedian and commentator Joe Rogan. The smoke session caught lots of attention on social media Thursday night, and rattled some Tesla investors early Friday morning.

"So is that a joint?"

All these antics have led many business observers to call for Tesla's board to get help for Musk and relieve him of some of his responsibilities. "These things are much more important than creating electric supersonic VTOL", he said.

"Assuming that the South African-born businessman would not accept, the podcast host asked: "'You probably can't do this because of stockholders, right?"

"We're taking vast amounts of carbon from deep underground and putting this in the atmosphere - this is insane", Musk said, a reference to the consumption of fossil fuels around the world.

"You getting text messages from chicks?"

"I'm not a regular smoker of weed; nearly never", Musk said. He added that he "almost never" smoked marijuana.

Both he and Ms Pressley are seen as progressives - but she advocated for a more "activist" style of leadership. It's important to keep a leader, a fighter, and warrior like Mike Capuano around.

In recent months, the adjectives surrounding Musk have taken a sharp turn towards the less grand: erratic, mercurial, wonky, unpredictable, blowhard. Last month, Musk ignited controversy by announcing on Twitter that a deal to take Tesla private was all but certain, only to abandon the plan 17 days later. Tesla shares went on another rollercoaster day of trading. The price dipped as low as $254.02 before rebounding to the $260-$270 range at midday.

Chief Accounting Officer Dave Morton gave notice Tuesday that he was resigning less than a month into the job, according to a Friday filing. In the first quarter of this year, the company lost Morton's predecessor, Eric Branderiz, and Susan Repo, who was treasurer and vice president of finance.

"Since I joined Tesla on August 6th, the level of public attention placed on the company, as well as the pace within the company, have exceeded my expectations", the company quoted Mr Morton as saying in the filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

Morton, who is walking away from a $350,000 base salary and a $10 million new-hire stock grant that would vest over four years, said he believed "strongly" in Tesla and that he had no disagreements with the company's leadership or its financial reporting.

The circumstances surrounding the go-private, no-go-private episode have reportedly drawn heightened scrutiny from SEC investigators.

In addition, Gabrielle Toledano, Tesla's head of human resources, who's been on a leave of absence since late August, told Bloomberg that she won't rejoin the company. As noted, Musk once tweeted that he was considering selling shares of his company for $420.

Unfortunately for Musk, this week's high was followed by a downer.
