Djokovic admits 2018 US Open toughest mission

"But like I said on court, I would back myself playing during the daytime also".

"It's OK", Djokovic told Millman. Keys recorded her best result at a grand slam at last year's US Open when she finished runner-up to Sloane Stephens.

"I asked the chair umpire whether they are using some form of ventilation or air conditioning down at the court-level side, and then he says that he's not aware of it, only what comes through the hallways. I was not feeling well", she said.

In an extraordinary - and sad - postscript to his magical US Open run, Millman said he even expected to come under attack after losing his quarter-final to grand slam colossus Novak Djokovic. Novak won just two points more than Roger and he had to dig deep in his service games to emerge as a victor before the deciding set, saving 19 out of 23 break points and stealing Federer's serve six times from 13 opportunities.

"We were both struggling and trying to hang in there".

The 13-time Grand Slam champion sealed the victory after 2 hours and 48 minutes.

"I was struggling. He was struggling". Federer had the advantage in the shortest and mid-range points while Djokovic erased that deficit with the better performance in the longer rallies, saving many of those break points after drawing Roger into more extended exchanges where he had the upper hand.

Osaka becomes the first Japanese woman in a Grand Slam semifinal since Kimiko Date at Wimbledon in 1996. Breaks like those usually happen only at the end of a set, but Millman was actually creating a hazard - his sweat was pooling on the court. The Serbian tied the set at 4-4 before winning consecutive points to take the set.

DeChambeau eyes Ryder berth after Boston win
The FedEx Cup Playoffs began with the August 23-26 Northern Trust, after which the original field of 125 was cut to 100. The 24-year-old American carded a final-round four-under-par 67 to win by two shots from England's Justin Rose .

"Matches against Nadal and Federer, and Murray as well, have made me the player I am today because those were the guys that I always wanted to win against because those were the guys I had to beat in order to be the No. 1, to win Slams, and have the career that I had behind me". He broke Djokovic's serve only once and posted just two break points.

Djokovic beat Nishikori in four sets on his way to his most recent triumph at the All England Club and will hope for a similar outcome in the semi-final clash in NY on Friday.

The hot and humid conditions, which left Federer out of breath, took their toll on Djokovic who looked sluggish early in the second set. "Sorry", Osaka said after her quarterfinal victory.

He showed a resemblance of a fight in the third set, breaking Djokovic who double-faulted on the back of two serve-time violations. In the women's singles event, Japan's Naomi Osaka sealed her spot in the last four of the tournament as she rolled over Lesia Tsurenko of Ukraine in straight sets within an hour.

After Suarez Navarro pulled off a stunning upset win over Maria Sharapova earlier in the week, she was eventually overpowered and outmatched by Keys in Wednesday's quarterfinal.

"It's great to see, " said Nishikori, who is into his third major semifinal - all in NY - but is still in search of his first Grand Slam trophy.

It has been a weird US Open.
