NOAA Adjusts 2018 Atlantic Hurricane Season Outlook

Subtropical Storm Ernesto

Subtropical Storm Ernesto

Storm Ernesto will bring with it a "Post-Tropical Cyclone" and we are expected to at least get the tail-end of the Subtropical Storm which has formed out in the Atlantic.

There soon could be another storm that gets a name in the Atlantic, but it will not be tropical!

It's traveling north about about eight miles an hour and though it doesn't pose any threat to the United States, the UK may see some rain late this weekend.

Further intensification is likely over the next few days as Lane encounters a conducive large-scale environment consisting of low shear and fairly warm waters.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 175 miles (280 km) to the southeast of the center.

Sato and Hunter-Reay were quickly released from the medical centre, while Hinchcliffe and Fittipaldi are undergoing checks. Dixon, who had only qualified 13th, had to weave his way through the debris. "Somewhat of a frustrating day", Dixon said.

Lane is expected to become a hurricane Thursday and could become a major hurricane on Saturday, forecasters say.

A subtropical storm is a hybrid cyclone. With the dust contributing drier air into parts of the atmosphere, that's not a good thing when it comes to a tropical wave looking to develop.

Remember, the climatological peak of hurricane season is still many weeks away (Sept 10-11)...and hurricanes can still form well into October.
