The transfer window may officially shut at 5pm on Thursday but Blackpool and Fleetwood can still be active in the transfer market thanks to an EFL rule.

This new deadline which closes before the season starts has really ramped up the pressure on these transfers which means we could see a whole host of panic buys as clubs look to add to their squad before the Premier League season starts this weekend.

Any hope with which Manchester United supporters woke up on transfer deadline day has quickly been quashed by Jose Mourinho.

Romelu Lukaku, Marcus Rashford and Phil Jones all came back early from their own extended breaks but Mourinho sounded downbeat again when he was asked about the new season. "I focus just on what we have and we go with everything we have to the first match".

"I think they need to go out of the Champions League pre Christmas to have a good chance of winning the league".

"It is hard to believe that we finished second because you are capable of making people that finish second look like they were relegated, and people who win nothing, finish below us, and you make them look like serial winners".

I was told that during pre-season it looked like I was saying something absolutely out of order, something insane.
