"Fake News reporting, a complete fabrication, that I am concerned about the meeting my wonderful son, Donald, had in Trump Tower", POTUS tweeted. Well, well, would you look at that: the patented "how dare this Fox moron accuse me of smoking something other than premium cigars" tweet.

Mr. Trump made the comment in a tweet on Sunday morning that was meant to be a defense of the June 2016 meeting and the role his son Donald Trump Jr. played in hosting it.

The Trump team has argued that Mr Trump Jr ultimately did not receive any damaging information about Mrs Clinton at the meeting.

Donald Trump Jr, along with his father, US President Donald Trump, and others in the administration have downplayed the importance of the meeting.

He later admitted he accepted the meeting with Ms Veselnitskaya in hopes of obtaining damaging information on Mrs Clinton, but said nothing came of it.

KEITH: It's germane. Also, though, there is the question of, why did President Trump and those around him initially try to hide the fact that they had been offered dirt on Hillary Clinton?

The president appeared to change his story in a Sunday tweet in which for the first time he confirmed that the Trump Tower meeting was supposed to produce dirt on Clinton.

It was later reported that was false and the president was involved in constructing his son's misleading statement.

"Most politicians would have gone to a meeting like the one Don jr attended in order to get info on an opponent", Trump wrote on Twitter.

This is something Trump has said regularly about the Trump Tower meeting, and something he has re-upped now that Michael Cohen is reportedly telling people that Trump did know about it.

Manchester United reject massive offer from Bracelona for Paul Pogba
The World Cup winning midfielder returned to United in 2016 following a spell in Italy with Juventus. He tweeted: "Don't you dare allow this ED. #MUFC is Pogba's home!"

The meeting, which occurred at Trump Tower in Manhattan, has been partially the subject of special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into whether or not members of Trump's team colluded with Russians.

"That happens when you have cases like this".

It is common for U.S. politicians to research their opponents during a campaign.

At some point, Trump will have to say yes or no, and Mueller can move forward - possibly with a report, possibly with an unprecedented subpoena of a sitting president who refuses to provide testimony.

"The president should be straightforward with the American people about the threat to our election process that Russia, Putin in particular, is engaged in is ongoing", Representative Ed Royce, chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said on CNN's "State of the Union" on Sunday.

News of the meeting, which Mr Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner and top campaign official Paul Manafort also attended, broke in July a year ago.

"There are federal statutes that prohibit receiving something of value from a foreign national, foreign entity, or foreign government", he continued.

Giuliani, who said his team is preparing a counterreport, said he believes Mueller and his lawyers "want to wrap it up before September, or at the beginning of September". So where is the truth, and why is this something President Trump would even want to focus on right now?

"I had bad information at that time. They can also cause War!"

In another, he expressed frustration with both the media and Mueller's probe.
