How Trump acts during a deposition, according to lawyer who questioned him

Earlier Sunday, the president ripped into recent media coverage, including reports in the Washington Post and on CNN that said he was anxious Mueller's prosecutors were circling too close to his son Donald Trump Jr., who had set up the June 2016 Trump Tower meeting, as well as other family members.

"This was a meeting to get information on an opponent, totally legal and done all the time in politics - and it went nowhere", Trump said on Twitter.

He concluded by further distancing himself from the meeting his son arranged, writing, "I did not know about it!"

While originally Trump, a Republican, said the meeting was about adoptions, on Sunday he said on Twitter that it was about getting information on Clinton.

Amid public uproar over the meeting, the president's son was forced to release follow-up statements, ultimately acknowledging that the meeting's true goal had been to get dirt about Hillary Clinton from a lawyer he had been told was working for the Russian government.

Trump's former personal attorney, Michael Cohen, has claimed that the president knew about, and approved of, that meeting, according to multiple news reports.

Jay Sekulow, the president's attorney, denied the president was involved in drafting Trump Jr.'s initial statement that the meeting was about Russian adoptions.

Within a series of morning tweets making what has become a routine attack on the Robert Mueller's Russian Federation investigation, Trump first denied Saturday's reports that he was anxious about his son being ensnared by the probe.

When the meeting first became public knowledge previous year, Trump personally dictated a statement for public release claiming that the meeting was called to discuss resuming adoptions of orphaned Russian babies by United States citizens.

Sunday's tweet appears to acknowledge that the meeting was actually predicated on opposition research: "This was a meeting to get information on an opponent".

Why is the Trump Tower meeting controversial?

WhatsApp brings group video calling to Android and iOS
Do note that group calls have a four-member limit, so you can't conduct a large-scale meeting via this route. The company is now starting to gradually roll out group video and audio call functionality to its userbase.

The misdirection came amid a series of searing tweets sent from his New Jersey golf club, in which he tore into two of his favourite targets, the news media and Robert Mueller's ongoing investigation into possible links between the president's campaign and Russian Federation.

"Well, the question is, 'How would it be illegal?'" Sekulow said of the meeting. When it became obvious that the focus of the meeting would not be on Hillary Clinton, Trump Jr. quickly lost interest and the meeting ended soon thereafter.

Sekulow said the important thing was that Trump's legal team shared accurate information with the special counsel.

Sekulow added that he has "no knowledge" of the president's son testifying to the special counsel's grand jury or being told that he is a "target", which is an official designation the Justice Department would use to tell someone that they are likely to be indicted.

One of the names at the center of the Trump/Russia scandal, which continues to pop up, is the President's eldest son Donald Trump Jr.

"The president should be straight forward with the American people about the threat to our election process that Russia, Putin in particular, is engaged in is on going", Representative Ed Royce, chairman of the U.S. House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee said on CNN's "State of the Union" show.

"What law, statute, rule or regulation has been violated?"

Mueller is examining whether Trump obstructed the investigation of Russia's role in the 2016 election.

Trump's attacks on the special counsel's investigation have been rebuffed by Republican leaders in Congress who have expressed support for Mueller.

This is another reason why Trump shouldn't meet with Mueller.
