Loris Karius to continue as Liverpool’s No.1 by Dave Filmer Published

The choice of goalkeeper, the luckless Loris Karius - then the urgency with which Liverpool have sought out a replacement, Alisson Becker, has helped embolden supporters in the belief that for 2018-19, the club are adequately staffed now in their problem position.

Liverpool are undefeated so far in pre-season, beating both Manchester clubs during the International Champions Cup in the US, and have spent approaching £200m on new signings as they look to close the gap on last season's Premier League champions Manchester City.

Liverpool geared up for the new season with a thumping 5-0 win over Italian side Napoli.

It was a fine finish from the Englishman who didn't feature at the World Cup, and Milner then provided the assist for Liverpool's second only minutes later.

Even if they lost the ball or play broke down, the midfield, led by new signing Naby Keita, were snapping into tackles and pressurising Napoli into surrendering possession.

Liverpool face Napoli on Saturday as they wind down their pre-season, with Alisson set to make his debut. He will be looking to step up his preparations to be fit in time for the opening Premier League game of the season against West Ham United.

President Trump Touts ‘Great Numbers’ In GDP Report
Personal consumption increased by 4% in the first full quarter after President Donald Trump's new tax law went into effect. That was almost double the first quarter rate of 2.2 percent and the strongest pace in almost four years.

The interplay between the front-three was also impressive.

Adam Lallana is upbeat about Liverpool's prospects in the upcoming season.

Salah seems fully rested and raring to go after a hard few months, Sadio Mane was bright and Roberto Firmino had several nice touches, linking play and knitting Liverpool's explosive attack together. Liverpool's last was the League Cup triumph, way back in February 2012.

Liverpool: Alisson 6, Clyne 6, Gomez 6, Van Dijk 6, Robertson 6, Wiljnaldum 7, Milner 7, Keita 7, Salah 8, Mane 7, Firmino 7.

Whereas Firmino is fain to drop deep and leave space for Mane and Salah, Sturridge spends far longer facing the opposition goal.

Fellow summer signing and Brazilian Fabinho is also yet to be assigned a permanent number at Liverpool and has been wearing No. 3 in preseason.
