Kohli surpasses brilliance in England

On Thursday, Indian cricket fans witnessed an excellent hundred from skipper Virat Kohli against England in the 1st Test Match at Edgbaston. The chase should start soon!

It was a classic captain's knock as he kept his calm while wickets tumbled on the other end and along with the last three batsmen, he added 105 runs to leave the intriguing first Test finely balanced.

However, England slip fielder Dawid Malan dropped Kohli twice, on 21 and 51, with James Anderson and Stokes the unlucky bowlers.

Kohli ended doubts over his ability to score runs in England by leading a great fightback by the tourists on day two of the first Test at Edgbaston.

They then fought back through Curran and Ben Stokes, but it could have been even better.

Stokes then got in on the act after the break as Ajinkya Rahane edged to Keaton Jennings at third slip for 15 and Dinesh Karthik was bowled for nought.

US President says willing to meet with Iran leaders 'any time'
Donald Trump has said he would " certainly meet " Iranian President Hassan Rouhani without preconditions, if he was willing. A senior aide to Rouhani said the only way back to talks was for Washington to return to the nuclear agreement.

WICKET! India are celebrating and Joe Root is content walking away.

However, England dropped too short when trying to dismiss a set Kohli, and their tactics of giving him easy singles when in partnership with number 10 Ishant and Umesh backfired. Anderson, Broad, and Curran swung the ball on either side of the wicket, but Kohli marched valiantly to 149 by scoring 22 boundaries and one maximum. "It's a five-match series and Virat has got off to a flyer with 149 and great players once they get into rhythm, once they get into form and once they get into confidence, they are very hard to stop".

Additionally, they looked to rotate strike as much as possible, going for quick singles even if this approach looked risky from the outside. Umpire Aleem Dar turned it down, but DRS overturned the decision as England finally got their breakthrough. A score of 54 for 2 - at which point Kohli had walked in - had become 100 for 5.

India have always been criticised for their poor close catching but England, with the tourists still on 100 for five, dropped two slip chances of their own, with Malan reprieving Kohli off Anderson.

Two balls later Curran dismissed KL Rahul for four via an ugly flat-bat drag-on.

Anderson improved his length and troubled Kohli for the next two overs, before Rashid brought things to a close in this session.
