The eclipse won't be visible from North America, Noah Petro, a scientist for the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, told ABC News. This eclipse will be the last one we see in Australia until May 2021, so astronomy enthusiasts should set their alarms for the early morning wake-up.

Remember a lunar eclipse is when the Earth's shadow blocks the sun's light from reflecting off the moon. That color is where the term "blood moon" comes from.

According to The Weather Network, from start to finish, the total lunar eclipse where the Moon will appear completely red, will last for 103 minutes.

A good chunk of the world will get a first-hand look at a lovely astronomical occurrence on July 27, when a "blood moon" and Mars appear together in the night sky.

"While more common than the solar eclipse, the event is nonetheless fairly unusual, with even partial eclipses rarely happening a few times or twice per year and each is only visible from a portion of the Earth".
