Google Home speakers complain of ‘glitch’

If you're facing problems with Google Home or Chromecast today, rest assured because you're not the only one. According to a confirmation received by a spokesperson of Google to TechCrunch, "some" of its customers are experiencing issues, and they are now undergoing an investigation to resolve this problem.

But it was only when the United States started waking up on Wednesday morning - the USA has the vast majority of Google Home devices - that the reports started flooding in, pointing to an outage of the entire system.

Experiencing service issues with your Google Home series of devices or Chromecast dongles?

Affected users have been tweeting at Google for most of the afternoon so it appears the issue is significant enough to sufficiently trouble Google's engineers.

Google's internet-connected speakers are apologising for being somewhat less "smart" than normal.

Koh YEAH! Apple and Samsung finally settle iPhone patent spat
That said, Apple pretty much won handily at every phase, since, you know, Samsung really did copy its product designs. The most recent development prior to this came in late-May when Samsung was ordered to pay $ 539 million in damages.

If you're an avid Google Home and or Chromecast user, there's a chance that you've encountered an error message this morning or just found that your device isn't working.

Some reports suggest that a broken software patch is to blame for this outage but Google hasn't confirmed that as yet. If they tried to reset the device, it would sometimes fail to reboot.

On social media Google was apologetic and helpful to consumers affected by the issue, but was not forthcoming on what had caused the problem in the first place. That left users unable to control their smart thermostats or cameras completely, rendering both the app and any voice command sent through a smart speaker, useless.

The Made by Google Twitter account says that a fix will be rolling out automatically over the next six hours. "We're investigating the issue and working on a solution".

"Your Google Home isn't set up yet". Those who wanted to get the fix sooner could manually reboot their devices, said Google.
