Superstar Rajinikanth's gangster drama Kaala is releasing all over today.

The film, which also stars Nana Patekar and Huma Qureshi, is having a dream run at the Chennai box office.

On Wednesday, the Madras high court refused to stay the release of Kaala based on a plea that claimed that the film projected Thiraviyam Nadar and his family in bad light.

Most theatres in Bengaluru also chose to heed to the call made by pro-Kannada organisations and Karnataka chief minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, asking distributors and theatre owners not to release the movie.

Single screen theatres and multiplexes across Karnataka on Thursday avoided screening the multi-lingual "Kaala" amid vociferous protests by pro-Kannada activists against his remarks on the Cauvery river water issue."We are unable to screen Kaala for the time being despite the security provided due to strong protests against its release by the Kannada Rakshana Vedike (KRV) activists outside", a multiplex official said. "The tedious process is happening at the last minute".

JSPL Pledges to Beat Plastic Pollution
On the occasion of the World Environment Day , Sudan government has declared a campaign to eliminate plastic pollution . The report notes that by some estimates, as many as 5 trillion plastic bags are used worldwide every year.

Oscar-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty who has worked repeatedly with Rajini on Ra.One, Robot etc, agrees that Rajini's politics could be a negative force in his career. "We called for a ban after his statements on Cauvery". Our honour and Kannada pride are at stake.

Sources at Chennai theatres say the film has found pre-bookings only for two days, which is extremely unusual for a Rajinikanth film. With a day to go before the film hits theatres, the film has already earned Rs. 230 crore from its theatrical and music rights.Rajinikanth and Pa. Ranjith's previous film, "Kabali", had minted Rs. 218 crore ahead of its release. Nadar moved to Mumbai in 1956 and was a leader for a section of Tamils settled in the slums of Dharavi.

"Kaala has been unnecessarily embroiled in the Cauvery controversy". Even the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) is reportedly disappointed with Thalaivar over his comments on Cauvery water issue.

Memes surrounding Rajinikanth and his dialogues have always been a rage. Memes, fans imitating the superstar, videos have taken over social media.
