Google Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL To Be Verizon Exclusives

Leaked Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL screen protectors confirm notch and stereo speakers

Leaked Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL screen protectors confirm notch and stereo speakers

LG supplied Google with OLED panels for last year's Pixel 2 XL. Today a leak purporting to show screen protectors for both the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL confirms that, partially.

So Google has just started working on the Pixel 3 smartphones, but very recently, we have seen some screen protectors of Google devices popping online, suggesting the Pixel 3 XL will have a notch and the smaller one without a notch.

The Pixel 3 XL will apparently come with an edge-to-edge design on the sides, but sport a slightly thicker bezel towards the bottom. Companies HTC and LG handled previous contracts for the Pixel and Pixel 2. Just released OnePlus 6 has shaken the phone industry as this already bagged the title of most powerful smartphone ever. I can now understand that it's necessary to have the bottom chin to still have the front facing stereo speakers and house all of the internal components that would power and be featured on the Pixel 3/XL.

In future models, Google intends to remove the notch and chin completely so that the front face will be an uninterrupted glass display.

Google has discussed building the phones with iPhone manufacturer Foxconn, Bloomberg reports. The larger Pixel will also feature two camera lenses on the front of the phone, tucked in the notch, as well as a single camera on the back. However, the company will stick with a single rear camera lens like past year on both the phones.

Although there are still a few months left until Google will officially unveil its line of Pixel 3 smartphones, rumours are beginning to shed light on what to expect. Hopefully, it changes with the Pixel 3 devices this year. Google so far teamed up with various OEMs to make its Nexus and Pixel devices. After getting such a great response, however, he turned his attention to the smaller Pixel 3 model. Verizon is expected to again be the exclusive mainstream carrier partner in the U.S., though Project Fi support is expected too.

Truth be told, Google's expected smartphone roadmap for 2018 is reminiscent of Apple's plan for 2017.

The upcoming Android release has baked-in support for notched displays, with the ability to adjust layout automatically according to which sections of the screen are non-functional.
