President Trump Says Hiring Jeff Sessions Was A Bad Move

Trump lobbied for months to have Jeff Sessions take control of the Russia probe — despite Sessions being a key witness in the investigation

Sessions' decision to recuse himself ultimately resulted in the appointment of former FBI Director Robert Mueller as a special counsel to oversee a probe that includes investigating possible collusion between Russian Federation and the Trump campaign.

When House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Trey Gowdy pushed back on President Donald Trump's Spygate concerns during a Fox News interview Tuesday, mainstream media outlets and pundits splashed the South Carolina Republican's comments everywhere.

"And I wish I did", Trump answered in a tweet that quoted Gowdy's remarks.

A story in Tuesday's New York Times reported that Trump asked Sessions last March to reverse his decision, a highly unusual request that special counsel Robert Mueller is reportedly looking at now as well.

Trump has been vocal about his disdain for Sessions' decision to step aside, and said in July he never would have nominated Sessions had he known that ultimately, he would not be the one overseeing the investigation.

Irish travel from around world, including Boston, to overturn abortion ban
According to Today FM , the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar said that the Yes vote was "Ireland's second chance to treat everyone equally". In the United Kingdom , abortion is legal on the British mainland but remains outlawed in Northern Ireland.

Trump's legal team has asked to review classified information about the origins of the FBI investigation to prepare the president for an interview with special counsel Robert Mueller, who is now leading the investigation into ties between Trump's campaign and Russian Federation. That has become a politically contentious point, with Mr. Trump's allies questioning whether the F.B.I. was spying on the Trump campaign or trying to entrap campaign officials.

Gowdy, a former prosecutor before his congressional career, said he was comfortable with the term informant, not spy.

Another staunch advocate of President Trump on cable TV, Judge Andrew Napolitano, also appeared on Fox and expressed agreement with Gowdy's assessment that the president and Rudy are not accurate in saying that a spy infiltrated the Trump campaign. "I think he should do it confidentially first, to give Mueller a chance to explain himself", Giuliani said. He could have picked someone else. Rush Liumbaugh earlier today pointing out, rightly so, that if the FBI's so anxious about Russia, Russia trying to infiltrate the Trump campaign, they should have warned him'. Sessions, during his confirmation hearings, provided misleading testimony regarding his past interactions with Russia's ambassador to the United States.

Gowdy was asked by host Martha MacCallum what he thinks about Trump's claims after attending a briefing last week with Federal Bureau of Investigation officials.
