Buffon leaves Juve, but he may still play on elsewhere

Reacting to his last game for Juventus against Verona on Saturday, he said: "Saturday will be my last match with Juventus and I do believe it will be the most attractive thing to end my awesome adventure this way".

The 2006 World Cup victor, close to tears at times, said that until two weeks ago he had been set to end his playing career, but changed his mind after receiving "very interesting" proposals.

Juventus captain Gianluigi Buffon has announced he is leaving the Italian club but the goalkeeper could continue playing elsewhere.

"What am I going to do?"

Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to react to rumours that Reds boss Jurgen Klopp could make a sensational move for Juventus goalkeeper, Gianluigi Buffon.

"A return to Parma is a romantic childhood dream, but nothing more than that", he said. And during Thursday's press conference, he insisted he will "stay away from the national team".

"The most exciting proposal for my career off the pitch has come from the president".

Another bomb exploded on Sunday evening in Sidoarjo , East Java, which killed three suspected terrorists. Twenty five people died in the two days of attacks including a total of 13 militants and their children.

"Fifteen days ago, I was already an ex-player".

He confirmed that Saturday's Serie A home clash with Verona will be his last for the club, having helped them win the Scudetto and Coppa Italia this season. And while Juventus are celebrating their seventh straight Serie A title, Buffon is thinking about the future.

I am not someone who thinks it is right to end my career in who knows what third or fourth level division. "I am a competitive animal", he said.

"In the night of Madrid off the field I certainly went too far and I'm extremely sorry", he said.

It was a rollercoaster season for Buffon with Italy failing to qualify for the World Cup finals for the first time in six decades.

"If I saw the referee again, I would give him a hug and say that he should have taken more time with that decision", said Buffon. His farewell at global level might come on June 4, when Italy hosts a friendly against the Netherlands in Turin.
