The company which enabled this feature for Xbox One users past year is now bringing the same feature to all Windows 10 users who download, install and play games from the Microsoft Store.

Posting on Xbox Wire, John Smith, Senior Director, Microsoft Store Product Marketing, explains that the new gift options introduced past year have been a "huge hit".

It's quite simple for players to send digital gifts in the Microsoft Store as they simply need to navigate to the product they wish to purchase and select the "Buy as Gift" option. For some reason, you can not gift more than two discounted items within a 14 day period. Enter the email address and click Next and keep following the prompts to pay for the game. Full-priced products have no limits. Similar to Steam, recipients can only redeem gifts in the country or region where they were purchased. Only a handful of Xbox One titles, content, and subscriptions to Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass were part of the deal.

Moreover, Microsoft now allows you to gift any Xbox One game to someone else.

Gift purchasers can buy only two discounted products and a total of ten discounted products every fourteen days. Now we just wait until E3 to see what games Xbox has in store for us. According to Microsoft, it seems that this feature has been popular amongst Xbox gamers, so much so that they've chose to extend it to the Microsoft Store as well.

"We are hard at work on improving digital gifting, adding new capabilities, as well as support for new content types", Microsoft store product marketing senior director John Smith said in an update post.

That does seem like an very bad lot of roadblocks for this feature, but at least you can grab stuff for your friends without resorting to gift cards or store deals.
