SpaceX launch for first Falcon 9 Block 5 set for Thursday evening

SpaceX is targeting launch of Bangabandhu Satellite-1 on Thursday, May 10 from Launch Complex 39A (LC-39A) at NASA's Kennedy Space Center, Florida.

The rocket was set to carry the Bangabandhu satellite-1, the first satellite for Bangladesh, into orbit from Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The Falcon 9 Block 5 meets the standards for crewed space missions and its hardware upgrades dramatically improve upon SpaceX's goal to make rocket reusability and reliability a cost-effective routine. The "older" version of the Falcon 9 that have flown recently were Block 3 or 4 designs and for "full thrust" operation.

SpaceX, which conducted a successful static test fire of the Block 5 earlier this month, said the rocket has numerous upgrades from its predecessor, the Block 4.

If SpaceX is unable to launch the satellite on Thursday, a backup window is scheduled for Friday.

Eight minutes after launch, SpaceX will attempt to land the first stage booster on a ship off the coast in order to reuse the rocket again.

Moon, Li reaffirm joint efforts to denuclearize N. Korea
The leaders discussed Pyongyang's nuclear weapons programme and supported free trade. Abe was scheduled to meet separately with Moon and Li later on May 9.

After it completes 10 flights, the Block 5 will be inspected and repaired, then used in 10 more flights.

While the Falcon 9 is created to be reusable, none of the previous rockets have been launched more than twice so far.

Most of the changes to this final form of the Falcon 9 are created to emphasize reusability. In the past, SpaceX rockets have been only capable of making about two trips. The satellite is expected to expand communication capabilities across Bangladesh and in India, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, the Philippines and Indonesia. That's more than half of the estimated overall $62 million price of the Falcon 9, according to various trade publications.

During its first Falcon Heavy launch in February 2018, the firm landed two of the firms side boosters simultaneously on separate launchpads. Nowadays, NASA sends astronauts to the International Space Station using Russia's Roscosmos space program.
