Giuliani says Cohen did his job in Daniels case

"Money from the campaign, or campaign contributions, played no roll (sic) in this transaction", Mr. Trump wrote.

Cohen said he used a home equity loan in order to pay off Daniels, whose given name is Stephanie Clifford.

Donald Trump reimbursed his personal attorney Michael Cohen $ 130,000 he had given to the adult-film star Stormy Daniels days before the 2016 election to buy her silence over an alleged affair with the then United States presidential candidate, one of the president's lawyers said on Thursday.

Avenatti tells MSNBC's "Morning Joe" that "there are serious consequences" if payments made through "law firm invoices for make-believe work or work that everyone always knew was never going to be performed" were submitted for reimbursement by the president for the $130,000 hush money to Daniels.

"There may be money laundering, there may be bank fraud, there may be campaign finance violations".

Adult film actress files federal lawsuit against President Trump for defamation on Twitter; Kevin Corke reports from the White House.

His comments appeared to contradict Trump's assertion that he knew nothing of the payment made on his behalf by Cohen, who is now under investigation by federal prosecutors. Michael is my attorney.

"You'll have to ask Michael Cohen", Trump said.

"Cohen was his lawyer and had discretion to settle, as I have had for clients ultimately paying for it", he said.

The White House has said Mr Trump denies having a relationship with Ms Daniels.

Trump finally scheduled that United Kingdom visit
One Facebook group called Protest Trump's Visit , hosted by columnist Owen Jones, already has 28,000 intended attendees. Here is what we know so far as the United Kingdom prepares for US President Donald Trump's visit this summer.

Cohen has said he paid Daniels out of his own pocket and wasn't reimbursed by the Trump Organization, the president's company, or by the Trump campaign.

Giuliani said that even though Trump reimbursed Cohen, he does not know when the president learned of the nature of the payment Cohen had made to Daniels.

Giuliani also said that Trump paid Cohen back over time, which could be a whole other ball of trouble for Trump.

Trump has told reporters that he was not aware of the payment and that he didn't know where Cohen had gotten the money. He is facing a criminal investigation in NY, and FBI agents raided his home and office several weeks ago seeking records about the nondisclosure agreement.

After Giuliani's appearance on "Hannity", sources familiar with the matter told Fox News that Trump did in fact repay Cohen the $130,000 Cohen paid to Daniels, over several months.

In April, Trump added to the fire in a phone call to "Fox and Friends" that Cohen did represent him in the deal with Daniels, walking back from his previous denial of any knowledge of the nondisclosure agreement.

"And my frustration is that we've gone a year and there's no - there's no criminal activity" on Trump's part, Biggs said on Fox News' "The Ingraham Angle".

"Everyone in Trump world will see this as a total unforced error and further affirmation that hiring Rudy wasn't the best idea", said one presidential adviser, who requested anonymity to speak candidly about the internal dynamics.

"They funneled it through a law firm", Hannity said.
