Kane keen for strong finish with Spurs ahead of World Cup

Kane'Spurs not at best against Watford

Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has hailed the job Mauricio Pochettino has done at Tottenham Hotspur and suggested that if he had the same type of financial backing as other top six clubs he would win the Premier League.

The France global made a number of fine saves as Spurs ran out 2-0 winners at Wembley, a result that moves them to within one point of third-placed Liverpool with a game in hand.

'That showed a bit, we were a bit slow, especially in the first half. It's hard to win games. We could have played better as a team but the most important thing is the three points'.

"During the whole season, 10 months, it is hard to keep playing good football".

Watford haven't won in their last ten games, but they will be looking to get all three points at home to Newcastle next Saturday.

Tottenham, whose play had been untidy at times in the opening period, tightened up after the break and it was their talisman Kane who eased any remaining jitters with his 27th league goal of the season behind Liverpool's Mo Salah on 31.

"After the disappointment of the FA Cup semi-final it was hard, we started a little sloppy and it's never easy to play against a team with good players and a team that plays with freedom". The former Manchester United right-back declared that he sees Mauricio Pochettino as the ideal replacement for Jose Mourinho.

For Watford, the end of the season can not come quickly enough as they are now winless in seven and still not mathematically safe, sitting six points clear of the drop zone. "I feel proud of the process. Hopefully I can finish strong like I did last season going into a big summer", the England forward said ahead of the World Cup. I want to win at everything I do, whether it's the Golden Boot or every game. I feel fine. I feel good. Past year I got 29 goals so I'd like to beat that but we'll see what happens.

"I'm surprised because we are not scoring goals in this moment, we are creating many chances, we are competing, we had good moments in the last games but it's not enough to get points, we need to continue to try to get the next three points".
