OR running back Royce Freeman runs a drill during the NFL football scouting combine, Friday, March 2, 2018, in Indianapolis.

Denver selected Freeman with the 71st pick in the 2018 NFL Draft on Friday night The Broncos had a need at running back with the free agency departure C.J. Anderson.

Freeman's sophomore season will go down as his best, when he broke the OR single-season mark with 1,836 rushing yards while scoring 19 touchdowns.

Breaking down the Denver Broncos' 2018 draft class.

Broncos general manager John Elway described Freeman as "a big, physical runner who will fit in well in our backfield". But he's very raw.

"With things like this, you just don't know where you are going to end up or where you are going to go", Freeman said.

Like Sanders, Sutton went to SMU, and over the years he sought his advice.

The versatile Sutton prides himself on garnering attention no matter where he lines up, but he's admittedly still a work in progress and eager for mentoring by Thomas and Sanders.

Chubb said at the National Football League combine that he'd love to land in Denver and learn firsthand from his hero.

Recruited out of high school as a safety, Sutton was moved to wide receiver by former Mustangs head coach June Jones, who saw his ball skills and figured he'd be more productive on offense. Sutton is coming off a strong 2017 campaign where he made 68 catches for 1,085 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns. But quicker than you can say, "Jesus Christ, the Browns screwed themselves again!", Elway changed course and dialed Chubb's number.

Elway insisted he was also surprised to see Sutton there at No. 40 on Friday. We're excited about him.

The defensive end from North Carolina State was viewed as the best pass rusher in the draft. Miller said last week he'd "be cool" if the Broncos selected Chubb. It was just something I was raised with. "When they were coaching me, I took every single tip they gave me and ran off with it".
