On terrorism, the French leader praised joint efforts to combat extremism and lamented the multiple attacks in the USA and Europe over the past five years, which he called a "horrific price to pay for freedom and democracy". Not in 10 years.

His emotional appeal to US lawmakers, as well as the broader American public, came as he capped a three-day state visit to the United States that also included closed-door negotiations on the fate of the Iran nuclear deal.

In Iran on Wednesday, President Hassan Rouhani rejected proposals to change the deal, saying his country "will not add anything to the deal or remove anything from it, even once sentence".

"We will have to face the same realities and we're citizens of the same planet, so we will have to face it", he said.

"It will either last or not. If JCPOA stays, it stays in full".

From Europe, a host of voices have urged Trump to build on the deal, rather than tear it up.

"You will have probably, it's nearly sure, a period of tension in such a scenario", he said. He also predicted that the USA will implement "tough sanctions" following its departure from the deal.

Macron's remarks highlighted the "special bond" between the two countries. "The question is whether, and in what circumstances, Iran would be ready to enter into such a process", he added.

Rouhani's speech was particularly fiery, ridiculing Trump as "a trader, a businessman, a high-rise builder, how can he judge about global issues?"

"You don't have any background in politics".

In October, he refused to certify that Iran is living up to the accord.

Opponents of the legislative lines argue the state should not have appealed the initial decision directly to the Supreme Court. The court's liberal justices doubt that the Supreme Court should be hearing the case at all .

"I hope that everyone at both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue takes President Macron's words to heart", Schumer said on the Senate floor. The President has to decide by May 12, the deadline to extend a waiver on sanctions, a key plank of United States obligations under the deal. Iran has said it will not renegotiate the agreement.

Macron said that changes in USA policies on several world issues might work in short term but were "very insane in the medium and long term".

While some Republican leaders criticise the existing deal's limited scope and the way it was negotiated, they have also been hesitant to pull out and start again from scratch. If they restart it, they're going to have big problems, bigger than they ever had before.

Earlier, during the joint press briefing with his French counterpart in Washington House, Trump said, while talking towards Macron, "and you know what I am going to do".

He praised the "unbreakable bonds" between the U.S. and France forged since time of the Revolutionary War through fighting terrorism today.

Macron has sought a new approach that would see the United States and Europe agree to address any Iranian nuclear activity after 2025, tackle Iran's ballistic missile program and seek a political solution to contain Iran in Yemen, Syria, Iraq and Lebanon.

Commenting on Trump's decision to exit the Paris agreement a year ago, the French President underscored that he had coaxed Trump to return to the agreement, adding that climate change was a global issue, The Hill reported.

Some hawkish American officials argue that the Europeans, particularly Germany, oppose a tougher stance against Iran to safeguard their business interests there.

That deadline means there's still time for Trump to decide to stay in the accord for now.

Macron said without a reduction of carbon dioxide emissions and pollution, there will be no more Earth. "Our willingness with this new small group is to create a bridge between the Geneva process and the Astana process to have a discussion encompassing all the allies of the region and to open line with Russian Federation and Turkey".
