Apple said the battery issue isn't a safety concern and battery replacements will be offered free of charge at Apple service providers, retail stores or by mailing the device in to the Apple fix center. Apple will offer replacement batteries free of charge; service may take between three and five days, the company said.

Apple is replacing the batteries on some MacBook Pros after the discovery of an issue which can cause the battery to expand.

The company on its support forum posted a note which says that the issue is with a small number of MacBook Pros manufactured between October 2016 and October 2017.

Apple admits that some MacBook Pro laptops have a problem that causes their batteries to swell up.

The tech giant is reportedly already offering the opportunity for a refund to any MacBook Pro owners who already got their battery replaced and paid the $129 fee typically charged for the service. Simply go to the program page and look up your serial number, which you can find in About this Mac (click the Apple logo on the top menu), under your laptop or on its box. This program doesn't extend the standard warranty coverage of the notebook. You can head over to this link where you need to enter the Serial number of your Macbook Pro. In some cases, there may be a cost associated with the fix.
