Christian lawyers seek European court appeal for parents of Alfie Evans

His parents Tom Evans and Kate James are fighting to have him moved to a hospital in Rome

The parents of Alfie Evans, who want to take their terminally ill toddler to Italy for treatment, on Friday made a fresh appeal to the European Court of Human Rights after Britain's Supreme Court ordered London doctors to pull the plug on him.

Alfie, born on May 9 2016, is in a "semi-vegetative state" and has a degenerative neurological condition doctors had not definitively diagnosed.

Baroness Hale of Richmond said that it was the view of doctors at Alder Hey Children's Hospital, Liverpool, that nearly all of the 23-month-old boy's brain had been destroyed.

The U.K. Supreme Court struck down the final appeal to allow Alfie Evans to live and receive further treatment, and instead approved plans for his death.

The Rome hospital has reportedly given the same prognosis but would be willing to perform a tracheotomy.

Evans, 21, and his partner Kate James, 20, have fought an ongoing legal battle to allow them to take Alfie overseas for treatment.

In a statement, Mr Evans said: "We will not give up".

"Alfie looks like a normal baby", they said, "but the unanimous decision of doctors who have examined him and the scans of his brain is that nearly all of his brain is destroyed". Alfie's cognitive abilities were actually improving after months of treatment, Alfie's parents and their legal representation argued. That has inevitably prolonged the period over which he has been given treatment that was determined in February not to be in his best interests'.

He's accused of taking a nonconsensual photo of a partially nude woman with whom he had an affair in 2015, before he was elected. Dowd argued that the attorney general's investigation of veterans charity The Mission Continues is compromised because of that.

Three appeal court judges earlier this week endorsed a plan drawn up by doctors.

Yet the courts rejected the request, saying that "almost the entirety of Alfie's brain has been eroded, leaving only water and cerebral spinal fluid".

Alfie's parents have been engaged in a protracted legal fight with doctors over his care.

The parents are fighting for the right to move their son to the hospital in Rome where he will have more time as doctors search for a diagnosis. He said flying Alfie to a foreign hospital would be wrong and pointless.

It comes after the Court of Appeal ruled on Monday it was in Alfie's "best interest" to have ventilation removed and be treated with palliative care.

Supreme Court justices and European Court of Human Rights' judges refused to intervene.

(Life News) The parents of little Alfie Evans have lost what may be their last ditch attempt to spare his life. Court of appeal judges upheld his decisions.

Mr Justice Hayden dismissed that habeas corpus claim last week.
