Battlefield 5 Battle Royale Mode Rumored Ahead of EA Play Reveal

The report, which comes from GamesBeat, mentions that EA DICE, a subsidiary of EA, is testing a battle royale mode for its upcoming Battlefield game. I believe it is pretty safe to say what the theme for E3 2018 is going to be. According to rumors, EA's DICE studio is looking at implementing Battle Royale into Battlefield 5. The mode involves players trying to survive to be the last man standing. However, recent reports have suggested that the next Battlefield title is called Battlefield V, that it will release this year, and that the game will take place sometime during World War II. In the case of Black Ops 4, the developers are ditching the story mode in favor of multiplayer and a Battle Royale mode. If DICE does decide that it's happy with what it has, it won't have it ready in time for the initial release.

In hindsight, this is all just speculation until DICE officially confirms a battle royale mode for Battlefield V.

Battlefield 5 is now in development. Whether other features, like parachuting into the area or picking up items like weapons and armor, are also included is unclear.

The predominance of battle royale mode rumours has some industry analysts predicting that the genre will shake out the way the MOBA genre did: a couple of titles will be successful, but most will fail. Are you playing any battle royale games?

Earlier this week, Polygon reported that Activision had made a decision to eschew a traditional single-player campaign for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, to expand on the games multiplayer and Zombies, while possibly entertaining the idea of its own Battle Royale mode. Let us know in the comments.
