The Rohingya family did not reach Bangladesh as they used to live in no man's land, added Asaduzzaman.

United Nations agencies have warned that any repatriation deal could place returning Rohingya in further danger and that conditions on the ground are not conducive for a voluntary, safe and dignified return.

According to a Myanmar government statement: "One family of refugees became the first to be processed in newly built reception centres earlier in the day". The family made a decision to go home despite warnings from the United Nations that conditions in the country are not right for refugees to head back.

Some 700,000 Rohingya Muslim refugees fled military-led violence against the minority group a year ago.

Fleeing Rohingya refugees have reported killings, rape and arson on a large scale.

More than 670,000 Rohingya fled violence in Myanmar since last August, joining an estimated 200,000 Rohingya who have sought shelter in Bangladesh, arriving in waves over the past decades.

The Rohingya are viewed as one of the most persecuted communities in the world.

A new United Nations report puts Myanmar's armed forces on a United Nations blacklist of government and rebel groups "credibly suspected" of carrying out rapes and other acts of sexual violence in conflict for the first time.

Photos posted alongside the statement showed one man, two women, a young girl and a boy receiving the ID cards and getting health checks.

"The five members of a family. came back to Taungpyoletwei town repatriation camp in Rakhine state this morning", said a statement posted to the Facebook page of the government's information committee.

The talk show host then surprised Ramsey with the announcement that he will perform at Nashville's Grand Ole Opry on Saturday. As of this writing, the original video uploaded on YouTube has crossed 15 million views and has spawned several memes .

The post did not mention plans for further returnees expected in the near future. Bangladesh has given Myanmar a list of 8,000 refugees to begin the process.

"They were not under our jurisdiction, therefore we can not confirm whether there would be more people waiting to go back [to Myanmar]", he told AFP.

During the visit, Win announced that Myanmar is ready for the repatriation of Rohingya.

Myanmar on Saturday repatriated what it said was the first Rohingya family from almost 700,000 refugees who had fled to Bangladesh, after months of fraught talks with Dhaka and amid United Nations warnings that the country is not ready for their return.

"The responsibility for creating such conditions remains with the Myanmar authorities, and these must go beyond the preparation of physical infrastructure to facilitate logistical arrangements, " it said.

Myanmar in its statement on Saturday said the family of five were scrutinised by immigration and health officials and the social welfare, relief and resettlement ministry provided them with "materials such as rice, mosquito netting, blankets. and kitchen utensils".

NVCs are part of the government's ongoing effort to register Rohingya that falls short of offering them citizenship.

"Before proceeding with the repatriation of Rohingya, the Myanmar government must recognise and guarantee all their fundamental human rights", he told AFP.

Andrea Giorgetta of the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) told AFP that Myanmar's announcement of repatriation is "a public relations exercise in an attempt to deflect attention from the need for accountability for crimes committed in Rakhine State".

A Rohingya community leader in the camp also confirmed the family's return.

The UN High Commissioner for Refugees, and the Government of Bangladesh finalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Geneva on April 13 relating to voluntary returns of Rohingya refugees once conditions in Myanmar are conducive."UNHCR considers that conditions in Myanmar are not yet conducive for returns to be safe, dignified, and sustainable".
