The talks immediately after Trump warned Russian Federation over its support to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, saying USA missiles "will be coming" in response to an alleged chemical weapons attack.

The United States and its allies have blamed the Syrian government for the attack which reportedly killed dozens, although Damascus vehemently rejects the allegations and insists they are part of a wider effort to undermine the gains made by the pro-government forces against militants in Eastern Ghouta.

Trump also blamed Russian Federation for being partners with "a gas killing animal", referring to Syria's Bashar al-Assad.

In its readout of the Erdogan-Putin talks, the Kremlin said that "concern was expressed about the current escalation in and around Syria based on the overblown speculation concerning the purported use of chemical weapons in Douma".

This comes after he spoke with President Trump Wednesday about preventing future attacks in Syria.

The spokesman added that Turkey was among the sponsors of the draft resolution.

On January 20, Turkey, together with the Free Syrian Army opposition forces, launched Operation Olive Branch in Afrin.
