Carpenter says toxicology tests also found that her wife Sarah Hart and two of their adopted children had "a significant amount" of an ingredient commonly found in the allergy drug Benadryl, which can make people sleepy.

Officials in Mendocino County said the body was found about 10:45 a.m.in the Eel River north of Leggett, about seven miles from the spot where the Thottapilly family's maroon Honda Pilot was reported to have fallen into the river on April 6.

The body was found as crews searched for the family along the Northern California river where it is believed they may have been swept away in heavy rains, the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office said at a Friday news conference.

Authorities have said that data from the vehicle's software suggested the crash was deliberate, though the California Highway Patrol has not concluded why the vehicle went off an ocean overlook on a rugged part of coastline.

Officials have said the crash may have been intentional, judging by software in the vehicle showing it stopped at a pull-off area before speeding off the cliff. They later left the state and never registered in local school districts in OR and Washington OR notified authorities they planned to home-school the children.
