NY Trump Tower Fire On 50th Floor Out, One Injured – President Safe In DC

Trump Tower, the mixed residential and business building that sometimes serves as the New York White House when the president is in town, had a fire on its 50th floor today.

He warned then that the situation was "still not considered to be under control" due to "a considerable amount of smoke" in the building. The victim was art dealer and collector Todd Brassner, according to the New York Post.

In the end, the legislation passed and was signed by Giuliani.

Two decades before he was president, Trump got political when he spent thousands of dollars lobbying City Council members not to pass the bill - because it would be too expensive for his apartment buildings.

Meanwhile, the commercial portions of Trump Tower have their required fire sprinklers, the DOB rep said. "If you look at the fire deaths in NY, nearly all of them are in one- or two-family houses".

Flames and smoke were spotted billowing and debris raining down from the 50th floor of the Trump Tower around 5:30 p.m. Brassner lived in apartment 50C.

The cause of the fire is now unknown, but according to the New York City Fire Department, the fire was centered in a single large apartment, where they found one critically injured resident.

"Very confined (well built building)".

He is a guy who is never injured and a guy who always wants to play and has more energy to keep going. Guardiola said: "It will be so hard next Tuesday but we are going to try".

First responders found the 67-year-old unconscious. "Firemen (and women) did a great job", the president wrote on Twitter at 6:42 p.m.

In 1999, Trump lobbied NY councillors against a proposed measure obligating high rise landlords to install sprinkler systems, following a blaze at a property not owned by the then real estate magnate which killed four people.

An FDNY spokesman told DailyMail.com on Sunday that the cause of the blaze remains uncertain.

Streets surrounding the building in Midtown Manhattan were closed off during the fire. "Members pushed in heroically, they were knocking down the fire and found one occupant of the apartment who is in critical condition", tweets from the fire service quoted him as saying.

President Trump's business is based at Trump Tower and also has a residence there, but he has spent little time in NY since taking office.

The headquarters of the Trump Organization are on the 26th floor.

"It was a very terrible experience. there was no evacuation system in place. we were at a loss of what to do", she said.
