BJP's official Twitter handle also showed a photograph of local Delhi Congress leaders eating "chhola bhaturas", which they claimed was ahead of the fast. Modi ji does not have any place in his heart for Dalits. But about three hours before the start of the fast in the Capital, leaders of the Delhi party unit, including Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee chief Ajay Maken, were caught on camera having a heavy-duty breakfast of chhole bhature, embarrassing AICC managers.

Gandhi also accused the government of suppressing and intimidating the media.

Another BJP spokesperson Bizay Sonkar Shastri raked up the Congress' alleged ill-treatment of Dalit icon Bhimrao Ambedkar and said it was Prime Minister Narendra Modi who had been working overtime to fulfil Ambedkar's dreams.

"The entire country knows that PM Modi is anti-Dalit, it is not a secret. The BJP follows ideology of oppressing Dalits, tribals, minorities".

The TDP chief accused the Central government of working with an oppressive mentality. They were protesting over the demand of special category status for Andhra Pradesh.

In a press conference, BJP's Patra accused the Congress of indulging in "politics of luxury" and said that all Congress leaders and the members of the Nehru-Gandhi family are used to it, instead of the "politics of performance". As soon as Khurana tweeted the picture, Twitterati started taking jibes at the Congress party.

"The Congress has fallen into its own trap". However, Congress' Arvinder Singh Lovely denied its claims saying the picture was taken before 8 am. "But we will not let that happen and will continue to raise concerns of the people", Maken told Mail Today.

BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra ridiculed the opposition party's nation-wide fast against the alleged caste violence and communalism, saying its leaders had come to the Mahatma Gandhi's memorial to talk about non-violence but the presence of Kumar and Tytler exposed the party's "real violent" face. "(It was) an attempt by his party to fast track his politics to burnish his credentials despite people rejecting him time and again", Sambit Patra told reporters.

"Atrocities against Dalits have increased many fold during the Modi regime and now they are trying to snatch the rights given to the community in the Constitution", he said. "We won't allow the politics of hatred and division aimed at garnering votes to succeed", Surjewala told reporters. "The approach that this government has against Dalits, tribals, minorities and farmers, we are standing against it", he said. He further said that the Dalits are feeling insecure in BJP's rule but Congress party is with them.
