The State of Arizona has announced plans to send more than 300 army and air guardsmen to that state's southern border, KVIA ABC 7 reported from El Paso.

Wisconsin has not yet sent any troops to the border or been asked to send any.

New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez's office talked about that larger than 80 troops would deploy later this week.

National guard members from Texas were shown in images taken over the weekend at the U.S. -Mexico border.

The Army National Guard is the oldest defense force in the nation, formed in 1636 as three militia regiments in the Massachusetts Bay Colony armed to defend against the Pequot Indians.

Texas has also said it will send National Guard members to the border. The caravan of largely Central American migrants never meant to reach the US border, according to organizer Irineo Mujica. The state's National Guard in a statement later that 113 members would follow the initial deployment of 225.

"The mission is to support the efforts of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in their efforts to secure the border and keep border communities safe", Ducey said.

El Paso Sector Chief Patrol Agent Aaron Hull says those troops are nowhere near deploying yet. In a memo, Mr. Trump said the "situation at the border has now reached a point of crisis".

"Governor Ducey, granting the deployment of the U.S. National Guard to the U.S. -Mexico border is a mistake and an ineffective and wasteful use of U.S. military resources", Grijalva said in a letter to Ducey that he released Monday.

That's according to Gov. Evan Westrup, a spokesman for Brown, suggested the Related Press Monday that state officers are nonetheless reviewing Trump's troop request.

"The idea is there is a mission here and to complete the mission so you can call it successful", Ducey said.

Brown is a Democrat and hasn't spoken publicly about the request.

"Washington has ignored this issue for too long and help is needed", Ducey wrote in a tweet.

"I share the concern some may have regarding the appearance of the militarization of the border", he said in a prepared statement Monday after he and other sheriffs spoke with the governor.

Nationwide Border Patrol Council president on how the Nationwide Guard will help brokers go after smugglers. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials said that arrests at the border in 2017 were at a 46-year low.

Grijalva said deploying troops send the wrong message to Mexico and to America.
