On the South's reception for Kim, Hong said it would also have to be planned within a framework that would not fuel controversy in the worldwide community.

"The U.S. White House's purposeful attempts to undermine the viability of the Kim Jong Un regime and the demonstration of its readiness for the removal of the North Korean leadership through the use of force are pushing Pyongyang towards adventurist steps".

South Korea says Kim has expressed a willingness to negotiate nuclear disarmament in his talks with Moon and Trump. The date and location of the proposed US-North Korea summit are yet to be decided.
