A wide receiver for the New England Patriots may have played a part in thwarting a school shooting - and it all started with an Instagram post. "Thankfully, this kid said something", Edelman said.

"I'm going to shoot my school up watch the news", the comment read, per Ken Belson of The New York Times".

Once the comment was confirmed, Edelman told Moen to call 911.

While there is no way to know whether the boy who posted on Edelman's Instagram would have followed through with the threat, it's encouraging to know that people like Edelman, the Instagram follower who saw the threat, his assistant and the police were all united in their mission to prevent another tragedy. This allowed the detectives to figure out the commenter's email and IP address, which was traced to Port Huron, Mich.

The detectives called police in MI, who immediately drove to the house where the threatening message originated.

An investigation led authorities to an IP address in MI and police in Port Huron, Mich., detained a 14-year-old boy, who admitted to writing the threat. Authorities also found two rifles that belonged to his mother, a police chief told the Times.

In response to questions about the disturbing posting on Edelman's account, Boston Police Department spokeswoman Maisha Miraj would neither confirm nor deny who was involved, but said, "We were alerted to a post".

WDIV reported that the threat was directed at Central Middle School in Port Huron. "Like we tell everybody, if you see something, if you hear something, say something". "We're going to send him something, a care package, just for his work". He's being held in a juvenile detention center and faces a felony charge, according to the newspaper.
