Mark Hamill reveals the fate George Lucas originally intended for Luke Skywalker

Mark Hamill says George Lucas planned to kill Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: Episode IX

Mark Hamill says George Lucas planned to kill Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: Episode IX

"I happen to know that George didn't kill Luke until the end of [Episode] IX, after he trained Leia", Hamill said.

Hamill didn't give any specifics about how Luke would die in Lucas' version, likely because they weren't entirely worked out.

There is little doubt that George Lucas had big plans for Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa in the current Star Wars trilogy.

When George Lucas sold off his Star Wars empire to Disney in 2012, he also handed over the scripts and plans for future films.

An audio conversation of the officer in question was aired by his channel after which the officer was transferred, said sources. Chouhan assured a group of journalists in Bhopal that strict action would be taken against whoever was responsible.

However, in an interview with IGN, Hamill revealed that Lucas meant to kill off Luke at the end of "Episode IX" after he had trained his twin sister General Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher) the ways of the Force.

Fans of the hit franchise where left confused and shocked when Leia somehow managed to use the Force in "The Last Jedi" to save herself from certain death, despite never showing any signs of being able to use it in the original trilogy. Kurtz revealed that Lucas originally didn't want Hamill's Luke and Carrie Fisher's Leia to be siblings, with the "you're definitely not related" reveal coming in the sixth movie (Return of the Jedi). Was it a few years ago, when he revealed to the actor that there would be more Star Wars movies?

If you're reading this article, we assume you're a Star Wars fan and have thus seen The Last Jedi so we'll proceed as such (in other words, spoilers for that movie and The Force Awakens lie ahead). But if he is, audiences aren't likely to find out until that film opens in the USA on 20 December 2019.

Mark Hamill's Star Wars story came to an end in The Last Jedi, but there's still a chance he'll return as a Force Ghost in J.J. Abrams' Episode IX.
