Interior minister says India conspiring against CPEC

Speaking on the occasion of his country's national day, Mr Mahmood said it was important to resolve the J&K issue "peacefully through dialogue". Now, New Delhi has gone a step further by refusing to issue visas to Pakistanis who wanted to visit India in connection with Urs of Hazrat Khawaja Moinuddin Chishti.

Pakistan's wisdom lies in bringing India to the negotiating table because war is not a favourable solution, the country's former ambassador Hasan Habib recently said at an event titled "Indian hegemonic design and its implications" organised by the Rabita Forum International in Karachi, Pakistan's frontline publication Dawn reported.

Pakistan Day commemorates the passing of the Lahore Resolution on March 23, 1940, when the All-India Muslim League demanded a separate nation for the Muslims of the British Indian Empire.

Mahmood was called back to Islamabad for consultations after alleged incidents of harassment of its diplomatic staff in New Delhi, with the Pakistan Foreign Office spokesperson claiming the Indian government failed to take notice of the increasing incidents of intimidation of Pakistani diplomats, their families and staff by its intelligence agencies.

Mahmood said Pakistan has sought peaceful and good neighbourly relations with all countries in South Asia, including India. The speech was silent on India's core concerns of terrorism against New Delhi emanating from Pakistani or Pakistan-occupied territory.

At the function in Pakistan High Commission here, the messages from Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi were read out, he said.

"With these actions, Pakistan's neighbour has put the regional peace at stake", he said referring to cross-border ceasefire violations in Jammu and Kashmir. On the other hand, nobody is ready to listen to the narrative of Pakistan.
