UNCW Ranked Among Best in Nation for Graduate School Programs

According to rankings released Tuesday by U.S. News and World Report, Harvard University and the University of Chicago have the strongest business school programs in the country, but it's University of Pennsylvania grads who snag the highest starting salaries.

The criminal justice graduate program at the College of Arts and Sciences ranked 18th among all public universities (22nd overall).

The College of Education continued to climb in the rankings and moved up five spots to No. 24.

Florida State's part-time MBA program at the College of Business secured a spot among the Top 25 public universities nationwide.

The data for the rankings in all six disciplines came from statistical surveys and from reputation surveys conducted in fall 2017 and early 2018, the publication said.

"I'm delighted to see so many of our graduate programs are ranked highly on the U.S. News & World Report list", said Kim Needy, dean of the Graduate School and International Education.

Also ranked in previous years' rankings were UB graduate programs in audiology (17), clinical psychology (50), nursing anesthesia (10), occupational therapy (32), physical therapy (79), rehabilitation counseling (21), speech-language pathology (30), fine arts (69), economics (90), English (42), history (91), political science (65), psychology (75) and sociology (67).

FA Cup: Manchester United, Tottenham through to semi-finals
They have not lost there in the Premier League since August, when Chelsea repeated last season's FA Cup semifinal success. The semi-finals are to take place on the weekend of Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 April.

"We are thrilled that U.S. News continues to rank FSU among the nation's top law schools and that we continue to improve in these rankings", said Erin O'Connor, dean of the College of Law. UF Law's academic ranking among peer schools soared 8 points from 41st to 33rd. The rankings were calculated on a weighted average of seven measures of quality, including peer and recruiter assessments, placement success and student selectivity.

Several other colleges are in the top 50 among public institutions: the College of Law is 34th, the College of Nursing is 40th, and the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences is 48th.

Other ranked programs include UF's Pharmacy, which retains its No. 9 status, though it was a discipline that U.S. News did not publish a ranking for this year.

MSU's nuclear physics graduate program also maintained the No. 1 ranking in its category. Among public institutions, FSU's master's program ranked No. 44, while the doctor of nursing practice program ascended to No. 45. Specialty rankings are based exclusively on ratings by business school deans and directors of accredited MBA programs from the list of schools surveyed.

Rankings of doctoral programs in the sciences are based exclusively on the results of surveys sent to academics in biological sciences, chemistry, computer science, earth sciences, mathematics, physics and statistics.

U.S. News did newly rank graduate programs in the Sciences, which were last ranked in 2014.

"We appreciate the recognition by U.S. News & World Report for the work done by our faculty to create these high-quality graduate programs", said Provost Tom Christensen.
