Academy President John Bailey speaks at the Foreign Language Film nominees cocktail reception in Beverly Hills

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences reportedly received three harassment claims made against Bailey on Wednesday, according to Variety.

John Bailey, the cinematographer who was elected president of the Academy this past August, is now being investigated for three allegations of sexual harassment, according to Variety.

Bailey, 75, a well-respected cinematographer best knownfor his work on such films asAmerican Gigolo, The Big ChillandGroundhog Day, was just elected president of the Academy in August.

In a brief statement issued hours later, which did not name the president, the academy said it treated all complaints confidentially to protect all parties. "We will not comment further on such matters until the full review is completed".

'A negative impact': Donald Trump's NAFTA threat will backfire, Trudeau warns
The steel tariff investigation was launched to see the impact of steel imports on USA national security. Trudeau would not specify what actions the federal government will take to shut out offshore steel.

Dozens of high-profile men have been fired or have resigned from their jobs in politics, media, entertainment and business after facing accusations of sexual misconduct, including Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein.

In December, the Academy adopted a code of conduct for its members. If Bailey ends up being removed by the Academy over these allegations, he would be replaced by makeup artist and Academy vice president Lois Burwell until an election in July. The Academy released a statement today saying it wouldn't comment on the situation other than to say that its membership committee is now investigating and will report its findings to the board of governors. He succeeded marketing executive Cheryl Boone Isaacs, who shepherded the organization through a tumultuous period including the #OscarsSoWhite controversy, and through a dramatic membership expansion that greatly increased the body's diversity and female membership.

Bailey did not appear on the broadcast, as has been tradition in the past.

Some within the organization, however, have wrestled in recent months with the implications of requiring the academy to police its members' behaviour.
